For this week’s photo I thought I’d keep it local (at least for me) and share an image taken in my home state of Colorado. I took this photo of four mountain goats just chilling on the huge boulders near the parking lot at the top of Mt. Evans.
These mountain goats must’ve been a little too used to humans stalking them because they weren’t at all phased by the numerous people chasing after them to take their picture. It was pretty ridiculous, actually, how brave (or maybe I should say stupid) some of those people were. They’d scramble all over the rocks, nearly falling off the mountain – no joke – in order to get the ‘perfect’ shot. Luckily there wasn’t any carnage while we were there, but I really wish people would respect the wildlife and keep them at a safe distance (for both parties’ sakes).
I thankfully had my 70-200mm telephoto lens with me so I could still get some good images without harassing the wildlife by sticking my lens up their noses. Mountain goats really are amazing creatures and it’s quite fascinating to watch them in their natural habitat as they effortlessly strut around on these slippery rocks.
